Codecraft Foundation: US CyberPatriot Competition Initiative

I. Official Mission & Purpose

Codecraft Foundation Mission Statement
“Codecraft Foundation inspires, supports, and excites today’s youth in computer science, engineering, and cyber security learning to prepare more computing professionals, tech leaders, and entrepreneurs for the growing number of high-tech, high-paying, opportunities of tomorrow.”

Program Purpose
The Codecraft Foundation CyberPatriot Initiative aligns this foundational mission with the framework of the Air Force Association’s (AFA) National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. This program acts as a launchpad, transforming curiosity into hands-on technical proficiency while opening high-tech pathways for student demographics traditionally underrepresented in the technology sector.

II. Core Program Goals & Objectives

To fulfill our institutional mandate, this application and subsequent program deployment commit to the following three pillars:

  • Goal 1: Provide Comprehensive Training and Resources
    We will equip middle and high school students with the specialized technical competencies and real-world, hands-on experience required to successfully navigate and excel in the US National CyberPatriot competition.
    • Action Plan: Establish structured, weekly training labs focusing on operating system hardening (Windows and Linux), network security concepts, Cisco Packet Tracer simulations, and vulnerability identification.

  • Goal 2: Encapsulate and Encourage All Students
    We actively break down socioeconomic barriers by providing low-income, historically underserved, and minority students with elite mentorship and access. The goal is to ensure they can confidently envision—and build—successful futures in STEM careers, particularly within cybersecurity.
    • Action Plan: Remove financial barriers through direct resource allocation (hardware, software, and waived entry fees) while connecting students with professional cybersecurity mentors from industry, defense, and academia.
  • Goal 3: Strengthen the National STEM Workforce
    We view local education as a matter of national strategic importance. By fostering greater curiosity and long-term participation in STEM fields, this program will directly contribute to building a more robust, agile, and secure national STEM workforce, securing our nation’s digital infrastructure and technological leadership.
    • Action Plan: Track post-competition student pathways, routing program alumni into advanced internships, higher-education STEM pipelines, and immediate workforce readiness initiatives.

IV. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

To evaluate the health and success of the program’s goals, the foundation will monitor the following performance metrics:

  1. Retention & Completion Rate: Maintain a minimum 85% student retention rate from team formation through the final competitive round of the season.

  2. Representation Balance: Aim to enroll at least 50% of our cohort members with students who are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or demographic groups.

  3. Competency Growth: Achieve measurable, positive gains in pre- and post-season technical assessments designed to test core systems administration and cyber hygiene concepts.
