For Immediate Release
Melbourne, FL — The Tech Village near Downtown Melbourne welcomed its new EdTech neighbor, Codecraft Works, one year ago this April. This year, on the anniversary of its move, the community will celebrate the 3rd annual Codecraft Computer Programming Competition (CCPC) and award ceremony.
Codecraft serves to bridge the STEM talent gap across Florida and the nation from its headquarters on Space Coast, FL. This “party on purpose” will raise awareness about the critical STEM talent gap issues we face as a nation and further develop access to CS education, right here in Brevard, Florida.
Daily life, economies, innovation and national security all depend on having a strong and skilled STEM workforce. Codecrafters are, no doubt, the next generation of the Space Coast’s high-tech workforce; visionary entrepreneurs, dedicated problem solvers and community leaders you want to meet.
The Codecraft Foundation hosts this annual programming competition to showcase our students’ ability to apply the real-world STEM skills learned and how their work reaches beyond the classroom. And of course, there will be prizes including Codecraft scholarships for summer camp or next school year.
We ask that you save the date and join us on April 27th for the CCPC award ceremony held in next door to Codecraft headquarters at Groundswell Startups Inc (Melbourne, FL) and Domi Station (Tallahassee, FL). The event is a fun-filled evening of awards and community recognition. Participants and mentors agree this season-ending event is the most inspiring highlight of hard work, talent, and problem-solving of the year. Gathering all of our Codecrafters together to honor and support one another is the culmination of our shared mission.
The competition and event highlight our shared belief that coding is not a solitary activity. Codecraft Foundation, it’s volunteers and sponsors have given students and their Codecraft mentors the opportunity to work and create together to solve common problems. Each day we work with Codecrafters to combine the excitement of gaming with the rigors of science and technology.

“It’s never been more important than now to provide critical, 21st-century computer programming skills for all young people,” Landin said. “To solve for the high-tech talent gap in our workforce, we aim to supplement the traditional education system with early computer programming and engineering curriculum coupled with easy access to mentorship through school clubs, camps, or Codecraft Lab community locations.”
The Codecraft Foundation (501c3) was established to address the growing imbalance of access to technical education among young people. The Codecraft Foundation seeks to expand access through its charitable mission of transforming the lives and future economic opportunities for young people and their communities through democratized access to vertically integrated STE(A)M education. Codecraft Foundation successfully enables access to an immensely impactful standards-aligned curriculum which was previously unavailable to underserved community stakeholders.
Sponsors of the Codecraft Foundation include Rockwell Collins, IBM, Embraer, ALTR, PowerDMS, Indian River Networking, as well as generous in-kind support from Google, Harris, Concepts Beyond, Enki Solutions, BlackHole Makers, and Liz Cowie Photography.
